MTA Warns Of Service Suspension

New York City's public transit agency has issued a notice that all service may begin shutting down at 7pm tomorrow (Sunday).
If a decision is made to suspend service, all New York City subway and bus service would need to be suspended by early Monday morning to allow crews to secure stations, tracks and tunnels before the onset of sustained winds of 39 mph or higher. On the subway system, where the orderly suspension of service takes eight hours, service would begin to be curtailed after 7 p.m. Sunday. While some trains may continue to run for several additional hours, there would be no guarantee of any subway service after that time, so all customers who rely on the subway would have to plan to complete their travel by 7 p.m. Sunday.

The bus system requires six hours for the orderly suspension of service, so buses would be able to remain on their normal routes for as much as two hours after 7 p.m. Sunday. There would be no guarantee of any bus service after that time. If a decision is made to suspend service, Metro-North Railroad would run its final trains at 7 p.m. Sunday to prepare for the arrival of high winds and heavy rain. Customers are urged not to wait for the last trains when making their travel plans. Grand Central Terminal, including its shops and restaurants, and all outlying Metro-North station buildings would be closed for the duration of the service suspension.

GALLUP: Gays May Swing The Election

An interesting note from Gallup:
A new Gallup Report finds that 71% of LGBT Americans who are registered voters support President Obama for reelection, while 22% support Governor Mitt Romney. From June to September, non-LGBT registered voters preferred Romney to Obama by one percentage point, 47% to 46%. However, when LGBT voters are added to electorate, Obama moves slightly ahead of Romney (47% to 45%). These findings suggest that the highly Democratic vote of the LGBT population could be enough to swing a very close election toward Obama. The findings are based on more than 120,000 interviews of adults in the US, which represents the largest representative sample of LGBT men and women ever collected.

How To Pray Away The Frankenstorm

"Rebuke this storm in Jesus' name. The authority of the believer is powerful enough to shift weather patterns! (Matthew 17:20). Declare that the Prince of Peace reigns over this hurricane, and that His peace will cause the storm to diminish. (Isaiah 9:6).  Pray that this storm will not disrupt our Reformation Day prayer initiatives in the eastern states. (Isaiah 54:17).  Pray that the Lord would protect every person on the eastern coast, and that there would be no fatalities or serious injuries. (Psalm 91; It would also be good to declare this passage of scripture over the eastern states.)  Worship God for his provision, protection, and peace in the midst of storms. (Psalm 59:16)." - Scamvangelist Cindy Jacobs, explaining how to pray away Hurricane Sandy.

Saturday Frankenstorm Tracking

Here's the latest on the Frankenstorm:
Forecast models show Sandy will have all the ingredients to morph into a so-called "super storm", stirring memories of the 1993 'Storm of the Century', whose impact in the United States was particularly destructive. Governors in states along the U.S. East Coast declared emergencies on Friday, with officials urging residents to stock up on food, water and batteries. The U.S. Navy ordered all ships in the Norfolk, Virginia, area, including a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, out to sea to ride out the approaching storm. "We're expecting a large, large storm," said Louis Uccellini, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Center for Environmental Prediction. "The circulation of this storm as it approaches the coast could cover about the eastern third of the United States." Sandy battered the Bahamas southeast of Florida on Friday after causing widespread destruction in eastern Cuba a day earlier. Th e storm was expected to crawl northward on Saturday and Sunday and then turn toward the U.S. coast.

Perkins Slams Lena Dunham Ad

"Desperate times apparently call for desperate ads. That's the only way to explain the President's sorry excuse for a get-out-the-vote video--which has all the class of a rest stop bathroom stall. With help from Lena Dunham, star of HBO's sleazy Girls, the ad compares voting for Obama with losing your virginity. It's low brow even for this White House, which seems to think using expletives to describe your opponent is conduct becoming a U.S. President. 'Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody,' Lena coos in an spot eerily similar to Vladimir Putin's. 'You want to do it with a great guy, somebody who really cares about and understands women... My first time voting was amazing... Before I was a girl. Now I was a woman. I went to the polling station, behind the polling curtain, I voted for Barack Obama.' Frankly, I'm surprised it ended with 'Paid for by Obama for America' and not 'For a good time, call the White House switchboard.' And liberals wonder why women are turned off! After an entire campaign built on 'lady parts,' more women are waking up to the contempt Democrats have for them." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via press release.

Crackpot Of The Day - E.W. Jackson

"Their minds are perverted, they’re frankly very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally and they see everything through the lens of homosexuality. When they talk about love they’re not talking about love, they’re talking about homosexual sex. So they can’t see clearly. Jesus said ‘when the eye is dark the body is full of darkness.’ Let me come back to this whole issue of their using the black community because here again some of the most vicious attacks ever leveled against any black conservative or black Christian for that matter has come out of the homosexual community. Homosexuality is a horrible sin, it poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies; it brings the judgment of God unlike very few things that we can think of." - Bishop E.W. Jackson, who is leading the campaign for blacks to abandon President Obama. Jackson adds that gays are stealing all of the "nice-looking black men" away from black women.

BRITAIN: Far-Right Party Leader Nick Griffin Says Civil Partnerships Kill Children

"Gay people have complained for years that the rest of society hasn’t understood how they feel, and has had to make allowances, has to be tolerant. So why can’t you people simply get over it and tolerate the fact that a lot of heterosexual people – we don’t want to persecute you – but we find the sight of two men kissing creepy. That’s just a fact. What’s the problem? You [students] may think I’m a monster, but look at what your fate would be in an Islamic republic of Britain. Civil partnerships are a way of sliding towards marriage for everyone through the backdoor. It undermines the institution of marriage, and as a result of that, children will die over the next few years, because they’ll be brought up in homes which aren’t married. They’re not all bad of course, but it’s a weaker way of rearing children, that is what the statistics show." - British National Party leader Nick Griffin, speaking to a student newspaper. Last week Griffin was investigated by police after he tweeted the home address of a gay couple, warning that a "justice team" would be visiting their house because they won a lawsuit against a local bed and breakfast.

Redbox Aims At Starbucks

Coinstar, the parent company of those ubiquitous Redbox DVD vending machines, wants to have the same effect on Starbucks that it did on Blockbuster.
Redding expects each machine to serve as many as 28 coffees and lattes a day, with a simple cup fetching $1 to $1.50 and specialty drinks $1.50 to $2. At those prices—up to $1.50 less than Starbucks for a latte—Coinstar is going after price-conscious shoppers. Coffee-sipping Americans on average spend about $5 a workday for their lattes and mochas outside the home, or $1,092 a year, according to Accounting Principals, a researcher in Jacksonville, Fla. That’s led everyone from gourmet chains, including Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee & Tea (PEET), to fast-food chains such as McDonald’s (MCD) and Dunkin’ Donuts to hawk java. Coinstar may eventually install as many as 15,000 Rubi kiosks. While that might generate sales of $200 million a year, according to Eric Wold, a B. Riley analyst in San Francisco, Rubi is unlikely to disrupt the coffee market the way Redbox upended DVD rentals. One reason: more competitors.
I can't see any of my coffee snob pals buying their go-go juice from a vending machine, but I'm guessing they are nowhere near the target demo for Coinstar.

Brian Brown: Obama Will Amend The Constitution To Insert Gay Marriage

"In just 10 days, you can change history. You could wake up the morning after the election to watch the shocked expression on the faces of all the pundits, the politicians, the out of control judges, and see the headlines: HISTORIC NATIONAL VICTORY FOR MARRIAGE! Just 10 days until the polls close, when America will choose. The future of our country—and also the future of marriage—could be decided for generations to come. Nationally, Americans will choose between Mitt Romney, a pro-marriage candidate for President who will defend DOMA and appoint judges that respect our Constitutional values; or the openly pro-gay marriage incumbent, Barack Obama, who has surreptitiously undermined the legal defense of marriage for four years and who, if he gets a second term, will have the power to position a fifth vote on the Supreme Court to invent a right to gay marriage and insert it in our founding document." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, writing for NOM's blog.

POLL: Minnesota Ban Behind By Seven

A new poll out of Minnesota shows the first real glimmer of light in the fight against that state's proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
Fifty-one percent of likely voters plan to vote against the proposal to insert a same-sex marriage ban into the constitution, while 44 percent support it. A rarity in this election cycle, it was conducted independently and using traditional, time- and labor-intensive methods. Undecided voters and those who said they would skip voting on the ballot questions — effectively a “no” vote in Minnesota — would not tip the balance, according to the survey of 600 Minnesota adults conducted Oct. 15-21. The margin of error is 5 points. The SCSU effort is the first since the barrage of 11th-hour TV and radio ads, which often move polling needles, began airing.

Concerned Women Are Concernstipated About That Slut Lena Dunham

"The misogynistic Obama Campaign has released an obnoxious, double-entendre of a Web ad, featuring a woman who looks and acts like an overly immature, tattooed twelve-year-old. Once again, Obama is reducing women to — do we have to say it again? — 'lady parts.' Well, the pimply faced adolescents over at Obama HQ need to grow up and realize that we think with our brains and act with our hearts — again, 'Lady Smarts, Not Lady Parts.' Obama’s good ‘ol boys may have their minds in the gutter, but our minds are on our pocketbooks. In every sense of the phrase, 'It’s the economy, stupid.' Did they miss the headline about the 'gender gap' between Obama and Romney disappearing? Maybe it’s because we’re not a bunch of cheap floozies, easily bought with condoms and free pills." - Penny Nance, head of Concerned Women For America.

Frankenstorm Tracking

At the moment Hurricane Sandy appears destined for landfall at the southern tip of New Jersey around 2am on Tuesday.
Hurricane Sandy will probably grow into a “Frankenstorm” that may become the worst to hit the U.S. Northeast in 100 years if current forecasts are correct. Sandy may combine with a second storm coming out of the Midwest to create a system that would rival the New England hurricane of 1938 in intensity, said Paul Kocin, a National Weather Service meteorologist in College Park, Maryland. The hurricane currently passing the Bahamas has killed 21 people across the Caribbean, the Associated Press reported, citing local officials.
New York City has already mobilized emergency storm agencies. You may recall that last year Mayor Bloomberg took the unprecedented step of completely closing the subway system and ordering the evacuation of the lowest-lying areas of the city during Hurricane Irene.

WND Publishes Column Calling For Imprisonment And Execution Of Journalists Should Mitt Romney Win

"It is improbable that the framers of the Constitution anticipated a situation in which the press were entirely given over to seditious, anti-American policies. If they had, it is likely that their modus operandi would be similar to that for any faction found guilty of high crimes. Trials for treason and the requisite sentences would apply, and I would have no qualms about seeing such sentences executed, no matter how severe.

"This is not likely to occur, however. Radio personality and nascent media mogul Glenn Beck has the intention of putting the establishment press out of business. While I wish him every success, it doesn’t seem likely that he will accomplish this through his organizations alone. In addition to the advent of powerful alternative media sources, I believe it will be necessary to codify – or reaffirm – the nature of crimes against the Constitution and the American people. In this manner, we can thwart the designs not only of the press, but all global socialists operating in America.

"Those whose speech and actions impinge upon the God-given rights set forth in the Declaration of Independence and codified in the Constitution are, by definition, excepted from protection under the First Amendment (as well as the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment). This is a very important concept to consider, because it is based on these presumptions of protected speech and equal protection for all that progressives and socialists have engaged in their predation upon our liberties." -  Erik Rush, writing for World Net Daily.

Wingnuts Lose Shit Over Obama Ad From Girls Creator Lena Dunham

Judging by the thousands of wingnut heads exploding all over Twitter, you'd think Lena Dunham is 14 years old, not 26. That said, it is a rather provocative move for the Obama campaign to greenlight an ad in which voting for the President is compared to losing one's virginity. Gutsy. I like it. And not just for mention of same-sex marriage.

QUEENS: Gay Activist Lou Rispoli Near Death After Savage Attack

Well-known NYC activist Lou Rispoli is reportedly not expected to survive after a brutal attack on the streets of Queens last week.  Andy Humm reports at Gay City News:
Lou Rispoli, described by friends as the heart and soul of the gay community in Sunnyside, Queens, where he has lived for more than 30 years, was attacked by two men with whom he was seen walking at 2 a.m. on October 20 outside 41-00 43rd Avenue. He was hit in the head with a blunt object with such force that neighbors who heard the assault but did not see it thought he had been shot. Rispoli has been removed from life support and is now in hospice care at Elmhurst Hospital. “He will not survive, and this will be a homicide,” said City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, fighting back tears, at an October 25 press conference. Van Bramer, who is gay and represents Sunnyside, said the assault on Rispoli, whom he knew as a friend and someone who worked on his 2009 campaign, “is a tragedy for our neighborhood and our city.” The victim is 62 years old.
Police do not yet know if the attack was a bias crime. City Councilman Van Bramer today held a press conference urging residents of the neighborhood to come forward with any information they may have. Rispoli married his partner of 31 years last summer shortly after same-sex marriage became legal in New York state.

One Million Moms Vs Anything Spooky

Today's email from One Million Moms:
Dear Joe, The producers of "Gossip Girls" and "Pretty Little Liars" bring viewers "666 Park Avenue." The satanic and demonic series is described on ABC's website as a mix between "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Shining." To paraphrase the description of the program given on ABC's website: The show is about a young couple who find what they think to be an amazing apartment when in fact it is haunted. Those who live in the building seduce others to get what they need and want. But how far will they go to get what they want? The finest living in the city comes at a cost. ABC also describes the apartment building as wicked and dangerous and the owner of the building as a dark power. The evil owner of the apartment building in the show portrays characteristics of the devil himself. Previews include terrifying screams, death, spirits, satanic symbols, mark of the devil, and souls bought for a price. It airs Sunday evenings on ABC (Disney owned) at 10:00 pm. Take Action: Please send your email to the sponsors of ABC's new show "666 Park Avenue," and strongly encourage them to drop all plans to air the program.

Obama Endorses Washington's R-74

According to Paul Bell, press secretary for Obama's reeelection efforts in the northwestern state, "While the president does not weigh in on every single ballot measure in every state, the president believes in treating everyone fairly and equally, with dignity and respect. Washington's same-sex marriage law would treat all Washington couples equally, and that is why the Presdient supports a vote to approve Referendum 74."

Scissor Sisters Announce Breakup

Last night in London, Scissor Sisters announced that the band is going on an indefinite hiatus.
The New York band performed their second of two nights at the North London venue, playing an extended set as a thank you to fans - announcing their separation towards the end of the show. Frontman Jake Shears told the audience "This will be the last time we will play in London for quite some time," after Ana Matronic thanked London fans, saying the UK audience was "The ones who got us first - and always get us best." Following the show, band members confirmed to Gigwise that there were currently no plans for the band to return to the studio to record a follow up to their 2012 album, Magic Hour. Guitarist Del Marquis reveals he has solo work in the pipeline and Ana Matronic is close to completing work on a comic book project. The flamboyant singer reassured fans that this was not the end of Scissor Sisters, telling Gigwise "Don't you worry - this isn't the last you've heard of us," at the official after party, held at Camden's Lock Tavern.
Scissor Sisters formed in 2001. Since then they've released four albums, scoring three #1 US dance chart singles and landing ten tracks in the British Top 20.  I Don't Feel Like Dancin', their monster hit from 2006, reached #1 in more than a dozen countries.

UDPATE: Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears is telling fans on Twitter that this is not a permanent breakup. "It's just a break!"

MTA To Launch Subway Arrivals App

New York City's MTA has announced that it will launch a smartphone app showing arrival times for some subway lines.
“The MTA is very close to being able to provide real-time train arrival data without having to go into the station,” MTA spokesman Adam Lisberg said. “We want everyone to access the countdown clocks on numbered lines just by looking at their phone.” The MTA also will be looking to the private sector to help riders get up-to-the-minute train information. “We’re going to release this data in a free and open stream so developers can build new apps that we haven’t even thought of,” Lisberg said. Gene Russianoff of the Straphangers Campaign praised the latest development in the MTA’s effort to provide riders with useful travel information. “It’s like having a subway countdown clock right in your home or your pocket,” Russianoff said. “It’s just the exact information riders want and need, especially at off-hours when trains arrive less often.”
The app will show arrivals for lines 1 though 6 only.  The anticipated launch date is some time "before the end of this year."  The MTA says they will also provide "open code" to developers who want to create apps of their own.

Frankenstorm!

Just in from the Associated Press:
An unusual nasty mix of a hurricane and a winter storm that forecasters are now calling "Frankenstorm" is likely to blast most of the East Coast next week, focusing the worst of its weather mayhem around New York City and New Jersey. Government forecasters on Thursday upped the odds of a major weather mess, now saying there's a 90 percent chance that the East will get steady gale-force winds, heavy rain, flooding and maybe snow starting Sunday and stretching past Halloween on Wednesday. Meteorologists say it is likely to cause $1 billion in damages. The storm is a combination of Hurricane Sandy, now in the Caribbean, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North. They're predicted to collide and park over the country's most populous coastal corridor and reach as far inland as Ohio. The hurricane part of the storm is likely to come ashore somewhere in New Jersey on Tuesday morning, said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecaster Jim Cisco. But this is a storm that will affect a far wider area, so people all along the East have to be wary, Cisco said.
This same weekend last year, New York City went through a mini-blizzard.

HomoQuotable - Doug Wright

"I wish my moderate Republican friends would simply be honest. They all say they’re voting for Romney because of his economic policies (tenuous and ill-formed as they are), and that they disagree with him on gay rights. Fine. Then look me in the eye, speak with a level clear voice, and say, 'My taxes and take-home pay mean more than your fundamental civil rights, the sanctity of your marriage, your right to visit an ailing spouse in the hospital, your dignity as a citizen of this country, your healthcare, your right to inherit, the mental welfare and emotional well-being of your youth, and your very personhood.' It’s like voting for George Wallace during the Civil Rights movements, and apologizing for his racism. You’re still complicit. You’re still perpetuating anti-gay legislation and cultural homophobia. You don’t get to walk away clean, because you say you 'disagree' with your candidate on these issues." - Pulitzer and Tony winning playwright Doug Wright, in a message now going viral on Facebook.

"When he took over, the country was in very very difficult straits. We were in the one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression. The fiscal system was collapsing. The auto industry was collapsing, the housing was starting to collapse and we were in very difficult straits. And I saw over the next several years, stabilization come back in the financial community, housing is now starting to pick up after four years, it's starting to pick up. Consumer confidence is rising." - Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, announcing his endorsement of President Obama.

Trans Woman To Head Gay Military Group

Transgender activist and former Human Rights Campaign staffer Allyson Robinson has been named as the head of the recently merged OutServe-SLDN. Chris Geidner reports at Buzzfeed:
[H]er selection represents a huge breakthrough for a community that has received a level of respect in recent years but still faces overwhelming discrimination and high rates of violence, according to recent surveys by LGBT organizations. Following the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," however, she now faces the unusual challenge of persuading activist and donors that, in spite of that victory, the cause still needs their help. "We disentangled America from this legalized discrimination against gay and lesbian servicemembers," Robinson said, acknowledging that the key aim of Servicemembers Legal Defense Network since its founding in 1993 was reached with the September 2011 repeal of the law.The case she will make is the one that SLDN and OutServe, formed in 2010, have been making since the repeal: Troubling issues remain when it comes to LGBT military service. In addition to benefits issues for same-sex couples, open service for transgender people, whose own sense of their gender does not match the sex with which they were born, was not addressed in the repeal of the 1993 ban on open service and remains a reason to be discharged from the military today.

KENTUCKY: Two Gay Bashers Acquitted Of Federal Hate Crime Charges

The two men charged in the federal government's first-ever federal anti-gay hate crime case were acquitted yesterday by a Kentucky jury.
Prosecutors had argued that Anthony Ray Jenkins and his cousin David Jason Jenkins attacked 29-year-old Kevin Pennington at a rural state park because of Pennington’s sexual orientation, violating a hate crime law that was expanded in 2009 to cover assaults motivated by bias against gays, lesbians and transgender people. It was not clear why jurors late Wednesday rejected that argument. They were whisked away immediately after delivering the verdicts and did not make any comments. Anthony Jenkins’ attorney, Willis Coffey, said after the trial that jurors didn’t find Pennington’s account of the events credible. “You’d like to have an acquittal on all counts, but he’s happy he was found not guilty of a hate crime,” Coffey said of his client. “So am I.”
Defense attorneys argued that their clients were literally too drunk and stupid to have committed the crime.  They also claimed that the case was only brought to serve President Obama's gay constituency.

FRC Shooter Charged With Terrorism

Yesterday the man accused of the shooting at Family Research Council headquarters was indicted on new charges of terrorism.
The Justice Department is charging Floyd Lee Corkins, 28, with committing an act of terrorism while armed, attempted murder while armed, aggravated assault while armed and second-degree burglary while armed.  The new charges are in addition to an indictment for possessing and transporting a firearm into D.C. for the purpose of committing a violent crime. The government filed those charges against Corkins in August, immediately following the shooting, which wounded a security guard at the conservative Christian group’s headquarters.
This is the first time that the federal government has levied charges under DC's Anti-Terrorism Act of 2002.

Quote Of The Day - Eugene Delgaudio

"The homosexual lobbies and blogs cried and stamped their feet. 'Give us our naked body scans of anybody going to the airport' and frequently mocked and attacked Public Advocate's frequent condemnation of absurd measures which included the 'naked body scan'. Many of these small minded 'perversion cheerleaders' even personally maligned and slandered Public Advocate leaders as 'fixated'. The homosexual lobbies fully support the invasive body cavity searches of elderly citizens, small children, young women and the absurd and dangerous X-Ray machines that scan the human form in minute detail--- anybody and everybody for little security reasons whatsoever.

"Now the 'naked body scanners' are being pulled to 'speed up' transit services at the largest airports in America. Slowing down thousands of travelers and explicitly exhibiting their body to a room full of TSA agents is 'no longer necessary'. This is thanks to your support of Public Advocate. As usual most of the 'negative' publicity in the Huffington Post and other 'news' groups did not impact Public Advocate's consistent political education program to oppose this front and center. Very few groups in America take the kind of political action that requires to stand up to the homosexaul lobbies like Public Advocate." - Hate group leader Eugene Delgaudio, taking personal credit for changes being made by the homosexual-run TSA.

QUEENS: Hate Crime Charge After Gay Slurs Precede Taser Attack

The Queens County District Attorney has filed hate crimes charges against a man accused of using a Taser against another man after shouting anti-gay slurs.
Joseph Desmond, 23, of the 0-99 block of Eldert Street in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, was arraigned Tuesday on an indictment charging him with second-degree assault as a hate crime, and three other felony charges. Around 8:10 p.m. Sept. 25, the 23-year-old victim was standing at Gates and Fairview avenues in Queens, when Desmond allegedly walked up to him, hurled an anti-gay slur, shocked him with a Taser to his torso, and ran off. The victim suffered chest pains, but was able to call police. Desmond was arrested soon afterward in the courtyard of a building nearby, prosecutors said.
The DA told CBS News: "Every person has the right to feel safe to walk the streets without being harassed or assaulted based on race, religion, gender or sexual orientation." (The actual sexual orientation of the victim has not been disclosed.)

RELATED: Civilian possession of a Taser or similar "shock gun weapon" is a felony in New York state. Only four other states have such bans: Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.

The Log Cabin Story That Won't Die

Over at the Washington Blade, Chris Johnson reports that Mitt Romney met with Log Cabin head R. Clark Cooper last week in a Virginia farmhouse.
R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin’s executive director, said workplace non-discrimination protections were the focus of the meeting, which took place Oct. 17 at Greenwood Farm in Leesburg, Va., which was a precursor the organization’s endorsement of the candidate announced on Tuesday.  The Log Cabin chief was non-commital when asked if he gathered from the meeting that Romney would sign a version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act if it reached his desk. “I can say with confidence that the Romney administration would work on desirable outcomes for workplace non-discrimination,” Cooper said. “I’m going to leave it broad like that because I think there’s room for administrative action as well as legislative. I also think it’s probably fair to say that legislation in a form of an ENDA or an ENDA-like legislation is certainly realistic.”
In the photo above, the man on the right is former GOP House Rep. Jim Kolbe, who was outed by activists in 1996 after he voted in favor of DOMA. According to the above-linked story, Kolbe complained to Romney about the potential deportation of his foreign-born partner. Romney reportedly nodded but offered no response.

Quote Of The Day - Jeffrey Kuhner

"He’s married now and I’ve issued a challenge to Barney Frank. I said, Barney, the purpose of marriage is to have children, now if you and your male husband or wife, I don’t know how to put this, your male partner, if one of you can get pregnant because now they’re in the honeymoon phase, they’re lovers, I said if one of you can get pregnant and you can pull off a miracle I will openly support gay marriage. So I am waiting for a miracle from Barney." - Moonie Times columnist  and three-time Combover Olympics gold medalist Jeffrey Kuhner, speaking on the radio show of anti-gay activist Janet Mefferd.

HomoQuotable - Michelangelo Signorile

"In a Washington Post column headlined 'Silence Is Golden on Gay Issues,' my longtime colleague and friend Jonathan Capehart heralds it as 'a great thing' that gay issues weren't discussed in the presidential debates this year. The Human Rights Campaign's Fred Sainz agrees, telling Capehart, 'What we're seeing is proof positive that gay issues aren't the wedge they used to be and furthermore, the public has moved on.' [snip]

"I don't buy that. There's a stark difference between these two candidates on LGBT rights, more than between any presidential candidates in history, just as there's a stark difference on women's issues and a stark difference on economic policy. Sure, the economy is taking precedence right now as an issue, but few doubt that it was important when ABC's Martha Raddatz got around to the issue of abortion and contraception with the vice presidential candidates. And it's too bad that neither she nor any of the presidential debate moderators asked about gay issues. On this one, silence is golden only for Romney, as he tries to present himself as a moderate and win the election." - Michelangelo Signorile, writing for the Huffington Post.

And Here's Gloria Allred's Surprise

From TMZ:
Mitt Romney LIED under oath when he testified in the divorce of his good friend and screwed the friend's wife out of a lot of money in the process ... so claims the ex-wife of Staples' founder Tom Stemberg. Multiple sources connected with the divorce tell TMZ ... during Tom's uber nasty divorce case with ex-wife Maureen, Mitt Romney gave a deposition and testified during the trial that Staples was worth virtually nothing. Romney testified that the company was worth very little and Tom was a dreamer and "the dream continues." Romney characterized the Staples stock as "overvalued," adding, "I didn't place a great deal of credibility in the forecast of the company's future."Partly as a result of Romney's testimony, Maureen got relatively little in the divorce, but we're told just weeks after the divorce ended, Romney and Tom went to Goldman Sachs and cashed in THEIR stock for a fortune. Short story -- Romney allegedly lied to help his friend and screw the friend's wife over.
Do you think this will have any legs? Romney's lawyer tells TIME: "This is a decades-old divorce case in which Mitt Romney provided testimony as to the value of a company. He has no objection to letting the public see that testimony."

Spray-On Romney

Despite denials from his campaign, it appears that Mitt Romney does indeed get spray-tanned before major appearances. At least, that's what Buzzfeed's "knowledgeable source" is telling them.  You may recall that Romney's strangely orange complexion was a source of much internet ridicule during a recent interview on Spanish-language television.
It has been one of the running mysteries of the 2012 campaign trail: How Mitt Romney maintains the ruddy, glowing, and occasionally changing skin tone that helps him project an image of 65-year-old vigor. A knowledgeable source tells BuzzFeed the answer is in a bit of cosmetic technology used commonly by celebrities: spray tanning. The Republican nominee has made a habit of spray tanning before major speeches, debates, interviews, and other events that have a chance of getting wide TV coverage, the source said. He pays for the process out of pocket — sparing his campaign the expense, and the task of masking it on public campaign finance reports — and steers clear of public salons where he could be recognized. Instead, he gets misted down in the comfort of his own home or hotel suite. The Romney campaign flatly denied that the candidate spray tans: "Not true," spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in response to an inquiry.
The above-linked story goes on to interview several professional "tan artists" who question the talent of Romney's in-house tan person. One says: "I was looking at Mitt Romney the whole time and just thinking, with all that money you’d think he’d get the best spray tanner in the country."

You People Are "Unhinged" For Believing The Words Of Bay Buchanan

GOProud is super upset that people are taking seriously the words of their own keynote speaker Bay Buchanan, who last week said, "Governor Romney also believes, consistent with the 10th Amendment, that it should be left to states to decide whether to grant same-sex couples certain benefits, such as hospital visitation rights and the ability to adopt children."  I'd post that quote over at Twitchy, but they've banned me for my detestable habit of repeating verbatim the words of our enemies. But hey, Twitchy uses Disqus, so feel free to drop some truth over there.
