Romney On The Space Program

Added today to Mitt Romney's campaign site:
“America must have a forward-looking, visionary space policy and Mitt Romney has the determination and the focus on technology we need to chart a clear path. Today’s U.S. policy lacks direction and along the way we have become completely dependent on the Russians to continue human exploration. That is not acceptable. We have to travel a path that restores American preeminence in space, and I am convinced that Governor Romney will deliver an aggressive program that once again inspires the dreams of going where no human has gone before.” - Gene Cernan, Commander of Apollo XVII.
Where's our moon colony, dammit? At least Newt promised us a moon colony.

HIV Pharma Company Ends Research

Germany-based Boehringer Ingelheim, which sells Aptivus and Viramune, two of the world's most widely-prescribed HIV medications, has announced that they are closing their virology research division.
“To ensure our sustained growth, competitiveness and independence, Boehringer Ingelheim has been focusing on areas of high medical need in which we have convincing research targets as well as outstanding capabilities,” said Dr. Michel Pairet, Corporate Senior Vice President responsible for Research and Development at Boehringer Ingelheim. “In virology, compared to other therapeutic areas in which Boehringer Ingelheim is conducting research, the demands for medical innovation are shifting significantly due to the availability of new medications and also the emphasis on prevention through vaccination, a field in which Boehringer Ingelheim is not active. With the renewed focus on the diseases of high unmet medical need, and considering the scientific possibilities, we decided to conclude virology research at Boehringer Ingelheim” added Dr. Pairet.
The company will continue to develop its two as-yet unapproved hepatitis C medications.

Catholic "Ex-Gay" Group Courage Says "Yes To You" But "No To Fucking"

Here's a strange poem from Courage, the Catholic "ex-gay" group that acknowledges that you might have been born gay but should spend your entire life wallowing in the unending misery of never knowing love. And most importantly, never knowing the touch of another man. Clip description:
The topic of homosexuality and the issues around same sex marriage are very charged in our culture right now. The goal of this video is to communicate what the Church teaches about this topic. However, as the title would suggest, the underlying sentiment throughout the whole presentation is that the Church is a refuge of love for all of humanity. Those that would say that the Church is "anti-gay" are either misinformed or deliberately distorting the truth to push their own agenda. For all those who watch this video please understand that the lasting message of "Yes To You" is to let you know that right where you are, with all of your questions, challenges and struggles that the Church indeed says yes to you. You are welcomed and you are loved. We are all in this together.

Pope Attacks Gay Marriage In France

Yesterday Pope Benedict launched a scathing attack on France's plan to legalize same-sex marriage.
The Pope thus raised three points: Firstly saying that marriage between man and woman is a "fact" of nature and "threatened" by other forms of marriage which are "proven"to be "defective". Secondly, he warned of that the consequences of legalising gay marriage would harm society, perhaps a critical reference to the right to adoption by same-sex couples. Thirdly, by saying that "defending the family and life is propophetic" and not "regressive", he is in fact calling upon the French Catholic lobby to not shy away and take a more active stance against the government’s plans to introduce same-sex marriage. This attack by the Pope is unprecedented in its tenacity and its direct call to interfere in the affairs of a government. His previous attack on the introduction of same-sex marriage in Spain was much more subdued and less strongly worded.

Anti-Obama DVD Mailed To 1.5M Voters

An anti-Obama DVD titled Dreams From My Real Father has been mailed to 1.5 million voters, most of them in Ohio. The video claims that the president's real father was the late Frank Marshall Davis, a Chicago writer with affiliations to the Communist Party.
The film's director and producer, Joel Gilbert, said that the film was sent out to more one million voters in Ohio; 200,000 after a mid-summer conference, and a million after that. He said that 50,000 copies had been sent to voters in Nevada and 100,000 to voters in New Hampshire. "We're sending out bulk mailings to many states," Gilbert said. "Probably Illinois, New York, Florida, Arizona, Louisiana, we'll hit every state if we can to stimulate and force the national media to cover the story." Gilbert declined to say how much his company, Highway 61 Entertainment, is spending to distribute the film for free, but said that the film was making a profit through online orders. He also wouldn't say how the company is funded and how they come up with the money to distribute so many free disks. "We’re a private media company, a journalistic company that’s privately held and we don’t disclose the nature or makeup of our finances," he said.

Schlafly: Feminism Hurts The Olympics

"Feminist-imposed gender quotas hurt us at the Olympics in events which our Nation once dominated. The systematic elimination of certain men’s sports from colleges has weakened our competitiveness. We won only four medals in all of men’s wrestling, less than half the total won by Iran, and only a fraction of the medals won by Russia in this masculine sport. Wrestling is an immensely popular and valuable sport; it’s inexpensive and safer than other sports. Wrestling develops discipline in boys. Many high-achievers, such as Donald Rumsfeld and pro-life attorney Phill Kline, developed their toughness as wrestlers.  [snip]

"Other men’s sports have also been hurt by this feminist quota, such as swimming and track. Private swimming clubs and a few aging stars like Michael Phelps filled that gap this time, but we nearly struck out in men’s track in the marquee events of 100, 200, 400 and 800 meters, events the Americans historically dominated. While our Nation won the most medals for the fifth consecutive Summer Olympics, many of our medals were in contests of dubious value like beach volleyball. Title IX quotas have hurt our competitiveness in sports that are most helpful to the development of our young men." - Phyllis Schlafly, quoted on Right Wing Watch.

Top Ten Hipster Neighborhoods

So says Forbes Magazine.
The San Francisco-based startup Nextdoor.com helped us dig through data on more than 250 neighborhoods in the biggest U.S. cities. We assessed each area’s walkability according to Walkscore.com; the number of neighborhood coffee shops per capita (with some help from NPD Group’s report); the assortment of local food trucks (and their ranking according to Zagat’s); the number and frequency of farmers markets; the selection of locally owned bars and restaurants; and the percentage of residents who work in artistic occupations. We also factored in Nextdoor’s Neighborhood “Hipness” Index, which is based on how often words associated with hipness (for example art, gallery, designer, musician) appeared on each Nextdoor neighborhood’s site pages, and Nextdoor conducted a survey in which members sounded off on their communities.

TEXAS: Judge Allows Christian Banners At Public High School Football Games

A Texas judge has issued a temporary restraining order that overrides a school board's decision that banned cheerleaders from using on-field Christian banners for players to burst through at the beginning of games.
The Kountze High School football team doesn't play another game until Friday, September 28. The middle school team played Thursday at 5 p.m., just hours after the ruling, and Kountze cheerleaders held up a religious-oriented, run-through sign as the team took the field. Attorney David Starnes filed court papers at about noon seeking the Temporary Restraining Order against the Kountze ISD on behalf of cheerleaders who believe they have the right to place religious messages on run-through signs at football games. Starnes told KFDM News the signs "weren't made on school time, weren't made using school funds and were done without any involvement of the school administration." His goal is to enable the signs to be displayed at Thursday night's middle school football game in Kountze. Superintendent Kevin Weldon told KFDM News someone complained to the district about the signs. He spoke with the district's legal counsel, and the Texas Association of School boards, and says he was told that according to a Supreme Court Decision, allowing religious scripture on run-through signs before games would violate the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.
Numerous Christiantist groups are rallying around the cheerleaders, including the Family Research Council and the Liberty Institute, the latter of which is now providing free legal counsel.

San Francisco's Proposed Nudity Ban Would Exempt Street Fairs And Parades

San Francisco Supervisor Scott Weiner says he hasn't yet decided on introducing a ban on public nudity, but if he does the bill will exempt street fairs and parades. From the Bay Area Reporter:
After last week's story was published, Wiener contacted the B.A.R. to clarify that if he does submit a public nudity ban it would only apply to "streets, sidewalks, and public plazas." It would exempt such public gatherings as this Sunday's Folsom Street Fair and the annual LGBT Pride celebration. "Anything I would propose would not apply to parades and street festivals," said Wiener. Technically, under the current rules, anyone can be naked on the streets of San Francisco as long as they are not aroused. While there is no written rule banning the wearing of cock rings, the police have been informing male nudists in the Castro not to sport the genital jewelry as doing so crosses the line into indecent behavior that is citable.
The annual San Francisco Nude-In takes place tomorrow at the corner of Castro and Market streets.

Billionaires Are More Billionaire-y

Forbes has issued its annual list of the richest Americans and notes that things are going fantastically well for the nation's billionaires.
A big stock market rally, a rebound in the real estate market, and rising values in the art market helped pump up the net worth of these 400 billionaires by 13%, Forbes said. Mayor Michael Bloomberg is among those with more dough, jumping to tenth place from the No. 12 spot with a net worth of $25 billion. Gates alone was worth $7 billion more than he was last year. Berkshire Hathaway head and renown investor Warren Buffett again ranked No. 2 on the list, with his net worth climbing by the same amount to $46 billion. Larry Ellison, head of software maker Oracle, remained in the No. 3 spot, but posted the biggest gain in wealth on the list, with his net worth rising by $8 billion to $41 billion. Two-thirds of the list’s members saw their wealth grow over the past year to an average $4.2 billion, Forbes said.

NYPD At Apple Stores

Gothamist reports that the NYPD is working the massive lines outside today's iPhone 5 launch at Manhattan's Apple stores. The cops are there to help folks register their phones as part of a campaign to thwart the rash of robberies on the subway.
Operation ID is provided to the public at no cost. Officers register the serial number of valuable portable electronics along with the owner’s name and contact information. Items can also be engraved with a uniquely identifiable serial number prefaced with the letters “N.Y.C.” The program enables police to trace stolen property in the possession of a thief to its rightful owner, or identify found property and return it to the rightful owner. Members of the public are invited to bring their portable electronic devices to NYPD personnel stationed at any Apple retail store, and the other locations, to register their devices. Such valuables may also be registered at any time through the crime prevention officer at any police station.

Though legally dissolving the organization is a process that will continue into 2013, all regular ITLM operations will conclude with the final broadcast. Beginning as a variety show in 1992, IN THE LIFE evolved into its current newsmagazine format throughout the years, becoming the most honored and respected source for LGBT journalism along the way.

Tony Perkins: OK The DADT Repeal Hasn't Been Bad, But Just You Wait 20 Years

"Has America's military completely collapsed in the first year after repeal? Of course not--our service members are too professional to let that to happen. But these challenges are only a non-story because the media won't tell the story. We need only look at no-fault divorce in the 1970s to recognize that radical shifts in public policy take decades to fully manifest. No one can honestly deny the impact that no-fault divorce has had on children and the institution of the family. Within 20 years of the introduction of no-fault divorce, we saw the acceleration of cohabitation, single-parent homes, and unintended pregnancies. By the time Americans recognized their mistake, it was too late. Let's hope the same isn't true for our brave men and women in uniform." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via press release.

Fox News Spent The Day Lying

All morning today Fox News used a 2009 photo to claim that the president met with a pirate yesterday rather than address the Middle East situation with the prime minister of Israel. Yesterday the Obama campaign tweeted the photo as a "Talk Like A Pirate Day" joke with the caption: "Arrrr You In?"  Fox's story rocketed around the internet courtesy of closeted homosexual Matt Drudge. Fox finally tweeted a "correction" this afternoon.

Minnesota Haters: We Are Being Oppressed Because People Want To Change Our Minds!

NOM's Minnesota branch is super upset that people are using Facebook to try to convince their supporters not to be horrible bigots. What nerve!
“Minnesota United For All Families is encouraging its own supporters to use a new Facebook tool, the ‘kNOw tool,’ to stalk Minnesotans who plan to vote YES on the Marriage Amendment,” said Autumn Leva, Spokesperson for Minnesota for Marriage. “Once the ‘kNOw tool’ identifies a potential Amendment supporter on Facebook, this individual is targeted for ‘conversation’ in an attempt to convince him or her that the definition of marriage need not be protected.” “For those who support the Minnesota Marriage Protection Amendment, this is simple harassment,” continued Leva. “This latest move by MUFAF also demonstrates the type of behavior Minnesotans will see more of if marriage is ever redefined. The majority of Minnesotans who believe that marriage is between one man and one woman will be forced into government-sanctioned silence and given no room to exercise their right to act on their beliefs.”
Leva concludes: “Being targeted by the ‘kNOw tool’ is only the beginning. The Marriage Protection Amendment is needed to prevent Minnesota from becoming the next Massachusetts or Canada where those who believe marriage should be defined as between one man and one woman are not only stalked by a social media ‘election profiling’ tool, but also treated as bigots deserving punishment under the law and in civil lawsuits."

Obama On DADT Anniversary

Via press release from the White House:
A year ago today, we upheld the fundamental American values of fairness and equality by finally and formally repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Gay and lesbian Americans now no longer need to hide who they love in order to serve the country they love. It is a testament to the professionalism of our men and women in uniform that this change was implemented in an orderly manner, preserving unit cohesion, recruitment, retention and military effectiveness. As Commander in Chief, I've seen that our national security has been strengthened because we are no longer denied the skills and talents of those patriotic Americans who happen to be gay or lesbian. The ability of service members to be open and honest about their families and the people they love honors the integrity of the individuals who serve, strengthens the institutions they serve, and is one of the many reasons why our military remains the finest in the world.

TEXAS: Students Protest Ban Of Christian Messages On "Run-Thru" Football Signs

Students and parents at a Texas high school are furious after being told they can no longer post Christian messages on the banners that football players burst through to begin the games.
“It is not a personal opinion of mine,” said Kountze ISD Superintendent Kevin Weldon in a phone interview. “My personal convictions are that I am a Christian as well. But I’m also a state employee and Kountze ISD representative. And I was advised that that such a practice (religious signs) would be in direct violation of United State Supreme Court decisions.” A precedent for the decision is Santa Fe, Texas Independent School District vs. Doe where student led prayers at games were challenged and found to be in violation of the separation of church and state. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that student-led, student-initiated prayer at high school football games violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. Superintendent Weldon said any teacher or student in uniform is essentially representing the school and cannot, legally, promote one religion over another. Students and any other attendees at games are welcome to express their right to free speech in the stands he said, but not on the field as official representatives of a team or school -sponsored event.

Red-Caped Catholic Loons Plan 8000 Rosary Rallies To Stop Gay Marriage

The red-caped Catholic loons of Tradition Family & Property say they will hold 8000 rallies nationwide in October when they will pray to the BVM to stop same-sex marriage. Via press release:
"Trust in human solutions is fading. That's why people are turning to God and His Blessed Mother for courage and hope. The need for conversion, prayer and penance is more pressing today than it was in 1917 when Our Lady appeared to the three shepherd children, Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia." In over 8,000 locations in the United States, rally captains are preparing for the 2012 Public Square Rosary Crusade, which will be held simultaneously on October 13, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM local time. Everyone is welcome to attend one of the events sponsored by The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) and its America Needs Fatima campaign.

Ginsburg: SCOTUS Will Hear DOMA

Yesterday Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told a group of Colorado students that DOMA will likely be considered by the Court in the next term.
Ginsburg spoke at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She was asked a student-submitted question about the equal-protection clause and whether the nation’s high court would consider it applying to sexual orientation. Ginsburg said with a smile that she couldn’t answer the question. She said she could not talk about matters that would come to the court, and that the Defense of Marriage Act would probably be up soon. “I think it’s most likely that we will have that issue before the court toward the end of the current term,” she said.
So there it is. And no mention of Prop 8.

No Charges For Pepper Spray Cop

The cop who casually pepper-sprayed a seated group of peaceful UC Davis students last year will not face criminal charges. The incident sparked a national rallying of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Yolo County District Attorney's office said in a statement that there was insufficient evidence to prove the use of force was illegal. A task force appointed by the university concluded in April that the Nov. 18 pepper-spraying was "objectively unreasonable" and could have been prevented. In reaching their conclusion, prosecutors said they relied on facts included in the task force's report. Among them was the finding that the officers perceived they were dealing with a hostile mob and needed to spray the protesters to clear a path to safety.
The cop was fired in July. Last week the university reached an undisclosed settlement with some of the students.

Cowboys.com Goes Gay

Five years ago the Dallas Cowboys dropped the ball on a bid to buy Cowboys.com when their agent mistakenly thought the domain was selling for $275. In fact, the price was $275,000. Now the URL's owner has launched a "gay cowboy" dating site, presumably in order to embarrass the Cowboys into finally paying up.
"We are extremely excited to have decided on a direction for this property. Gay dating is a primary target for this website however, we will also serve the needs of straight daters as well," said Darren Cleveland, President/CEO of City Advertising whom is part of the owners group. "In understanding the traffic base, tens of thousands of visitors per month come to the website looking for a variety of things, dating is one of the most sought after searches. To finally be able to serve these visitors needs is a great opportunity," Mr. Cleveland went onto say. As many states continue to pass gay marriage laws with the support of President Barack Obama, Cowboys.com will be well positioned to take advantage of the continued growth in the gay dating sector.

Quote Of The Day - Chris Kluwe

"Every time you propagate the message that being gay is to be less than human, that same sex marriage cannot be as filled with love and laughter and tears as heterosexual marriage, that gays don’t deserve to pass a legacy on to their family, you quicken that howling storm and sweep away a tiny bit more humanity from the world, drive one more child to contemplating the cold razor’s bite, or the yawning abyss of the overdose because they simply cannot deal with the unceasing assault upon their psyche.
Well I, for one, will not stand for it.

"I will not stand for a world that demeans those it finds ‘different’ or ‘gross’. I will not stand for an ideology that promotes slavish adherence to a single arbitrary standard, that sacrifices children on the altar of oppression and control. I will not stand for one more RED TINGED MUSHROOM CLOUD second of people thinking that they have the right to live someone else’s life for them, for the complete lack of empathy so often shown in our society. I stand for gay marriage. I stand for the end of segregation. I stand for a woman’s right to vote. I stand for equality under the law, for treating others how I want to be treated, for the fundamental human right to live a happy life free of tyranny. I stand for my children." - Minnesota Vikings kicker Chris Kluwe, writing for the Pioneer Press.

Australian Senate Rejects Marriage

As was expected, yesterday the Australian Senate followed the lead of the House and rejected a same-sex marriage bill. The vote was 41-26.
Australian Greens senator Peter Whish-Wilson used the debate to take a swipe at the "highly offensive" remarks of Liberal Cory Bernardi who suggested legalising gay marriage could lead to calls for the legalisation of bestiality. The comments sparked a furore and cost Senator Bernardi job as a shadow parliamentary secretary. "I can't think of anything more offensive you could say to a gay person," Senator Whish-Wilson told parliament. To the howls of Coalition senators, he said he hoped voters realised that's what they were going to get if they voted Liberal. "Obviously we've hit a raw nerve. He wears your colours and he has gone up in the chamber and made an extreme comment," Senator Whish-Wilson said. Democratic Labor Party Senator John Madigan said he was appalled at the vilification of MPs who opposed the change. "Under the guise of compassion for the desire of same-sex couples, we have endured a non-stop campaign of denigration against those who have refused to buckle under the weight of an attack designed to pour scorn and guilt on those who have the temerity to refuse to deny their principles," he said.

Open Thread Thursday

Sometime after 6pm yesterday Google forced all its remaining "old Blogger" users onto its new posting interface with no apparent ability to revert to the old system. (Go to Twitter and search for "Blogger" and "interface" for howls of anguish in all human languages.) As I loathe change and am ridiculously not tech-savvy, I'd been clinging to the old system via a simple hack that has now been overridden.

It was suggested to me on Facebook that this might be as good a time as any to launch a JMG template redesign contest.  So let's make today's Open Thread a forum on how that contest might work.  Maybe I could post screenshots of the submissions and run a poll on which one you folks like the best. After all, this here website thingy is about as collaborative as a one-man show like JMG can be. At least, that's my hope.

NOTE:  The next few dozen posts may not look very tidy as I try to figure out how to create posts without a motherfucking preview screen.

GOProud's Matt "I Don't Like Gay People" Hissey Joins Koch Bros Astroturf Group

GOProud member Matt Hissey has joined the staff of Americans For Prosperity, the Koch Brothers' astroturf group whose ads are routinely fact-checked as "Pants On Fire." If Hissey's name is familiar to you, it's probably from this 2011 JMG post:
"I don't really like gay people," sniffs GOProud member Matt Hissey. "Stereotypical gay people frustrate me," he adds with a dramatic toss of his frosted blond hair before launching into an attack on nellie men who need to be more "normal and straight-acting."
Hissey appears twice in the below clip, if you can bear it. Below that is the AFP's latest attack ad on Tammy Baldwin.

Eugene Delguadio Is Exhausted

But guess what would make him feel so much better? Money, like he's "never asked for before." Hilariously, that IS a quote. As readers have noted before, these clips are in violation of YouTube's TOS, so feel free to respond appropriately.

New Pew Poll Shows Obama With Eight Point National Lead Among Likely Voters

The new Pew Poll is going to cause a lot of anguish in Teabagistan. And this poll came before the "47 percent" debacle hit the fan.
At this stage in the campaign, Barack Obama is in a strong position compared with past victorious presidential candidates. With an eight-point lead over Mitt Romney among likely voters, Obama holds a bigger September lead than the last three candidates who went on to win in November, including Obama four years ago. In elections since 1988, only Bill Clinton, in 1992 and 1996, entered the fall with a larger advantage. Not only does Obama enjoy a substantial lead in the horserace, he tops Romney on a number of key dimensions. His support is stronger than his rival’s, and is positive rather than negative. Mitt Romney’s backers are more ardent than they were pre-convention, but are still not as enthusiastic as Obama’s. Roughly half of Romney’s supporters say they are voting against Obama rather than for the Republican nominee.
NOTE: Polling "likely voters" tends to provide a more accurate forecast that polling merely "registered voters."

FLORIDA: Broward County Schools First In Nation To Recognize LGBT History Month

After an "emotional" public hearing, Florida's Broward County School Board today voted unanimously to become the first in the nation to officially recognize LGBT History Month. South Florida Gay News has the story:
Emotions ran high as the vote came on Sept. 19 at 12:51 p.m., and was preceded by a dozen or so speakers from both public office and private civilians, like 18-year-old Leo Washington, a Hollywood Hills High School student, actor, football team captain, and club president. “I’m 18 and African-American,” he said, choking up. “All we want is to recognize them for who they are so we can recognize ourselves for who we are. That’s what I want for every student in every school.” Washington said he knows of at least 30 people in his school who are LGBT but afraid to come out as such, not even in their own homes. “There’s a lot of people out there that come to me and tell me they can’t come out,” he said. “It can be really bad.” One of the influential community leaders who pushed this measure and was recognized by the board as having done so was Michael Rajner, a local LGBT activist. “There’s some amazing staff at the district,” Rajner told SFGN. “We have a school board now, unlike previous years, that has amazing support to protect equal opportunity for all students.”
SFGN reporter Gideon Grudo notes that the board's decision does not set any specific curriculum for teachers but will allow them to craft mentions of LGBT history that "may have been overlooked up until now."

Broward County has 1.7M residents and its school system is the sixth-largest in the nation with over 260,000 students. The system includes Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Wilton Manors, and more than two dozen other municipalities.
RELATED: Last year the California legislature commanded all state public schools to include notable LGBT figures and moments in history lessons. While no school system there has yet to launch such lessons, the legislature's decree does not mention the lesser known LGBT History Month.

TRAILER: 666 Mark Of The Beast

Clip description:
This ominous prophecy is just on the horizon. Every element is in place to implement the plan of the Satan and his agent, the Antichrist. For 2,000 years, the prophecy has lurked ominously in Revelation chapter 13. Its message warns that a day will come when every person on earth will be forced to worship Satan through his agent, the Antichrist. The prophecy states that each individual will have to worship the Antichrist in order to receive his or her personal number. Without the mark or number, no one will be able to buy or sell. Through the last 2,000 years, there has been one source of comfort. Such an all-controlling system was technologically impossible. With the invention of the computer and the birth of the Internet, that blockade against the mark of the beast has been swept aside. It has suddenly become possible to implement a system where every person will have a personal ID number that will be required for holding a job, opening a bank account, driving a car or flying on an airplane. That system is being set up around the world right now. The time for the mark of the beast has arrived!
Order now, operators are standing by. Please use the personal ID number on your credit card. Satan won't notice this one time.

MN Archbishop Shills For NOM

"The effort to respect God’s plan for marriage is about promoting true love, not preventing it. As God’s creatures, we are so much more than our sexual desires, and we should never let them define who we are. God is love, and Jesus Christ is love incarnate. Now, Minnesota for Marriage needs your help to get the message out. We must ensure that Minnesotans know what is at stake and have the correct information about why they should vote “Yes” for the marriage amendment. (Remember that if you leave the ballot box blank, the government votes 'No' for you!).

"I urge all Catholic faithful to stand up for the truth —always with love — especially when it may be difficult. Let us pray that our actions are guided by both the virtues of courage and charity. The Catholic bishops of Minnesota are united in their efforts to keep marriage defined as between one man and one woman, and we have been joined by many of our ecumenical brothers and sisters of other faiths. That is why I encourage you to join us in voting 'YES' on Nov. 6 to keep our state strong in its defense of marriage. God bless you!" - Archbishop John Neinstadt, shilling for the Vatican front group NOM.

NOM: Chick-Fil-A Never Gave Us Money

"Despite recent news articles claiming Chick-fil-A's WinShape Foundation donated money to our organization. This is false. The National Organization for Marriage has never received funding from them. We support Chick-fil-A's philosophy that every person is treated with 'honor, dignity and respect regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender;' and we will continue to endorse 'Chick-fil-A Wednesdays' calling upon all supporters of marriage, free speech and religious liberty to thank Chick-fil-A's president, Dan Cathy, for taking a courageous stand to speak out in defense of marriage and his freedom to speak." - NOM president Brian Brown.

NOTE: The news articles Brown refers to are parroting the press release from Chicago's Civil Rights Agenda, which erroneously claims that Winshape has donated to NOM in the past. Winshape's actual donations went to the Alliance Defense Fund, the Family Research Council, and other anti-gay groups.

WISCONSIN: Rep. Tammy Baldwin Leaps To Large Polling Lead In Senate Battle

Excellent news out of Wisconsin:
A new Marquette University Law School Poll shows Democrat Tammy Baldwin leading Republican Tommy Thompson, 50% to 41%, in the race for the U.S. Senate seat. A month ago, it was exactly the reverse. The biggest shift in the Senate race come in independents. In August, independents preferred Thompson 47% to 37% for Baldwin. Now, independents support Baldwin 50% to Thompson’s 38%.
Let's credit GOProud for backing her opponent.

Today's Dose Of Homocon Crazy

"Just four years ago, black people would come up to me, try to spit in my face, and would scream that I was a racist because I was not supporting Barack Obama and DARED to wear anything backing Hillary and then later McCain/Palin. They would go completely UNHINGED at anything that wasn’t praising 'The One'.

"Leftie loons of the privileged, young, white variety would also scream expletives, push me on the train, and shout that 'Anyone who doesn’t vote for Obama is racist!' garbage. Though no one was sitting at Obama command centers specifically telling each individual to do this, the general vibe in Obama supporter ranks was to 'get in their faces!' and to essentially bully and otherwise intimidate people who weren’t supporting Obama to become completely invisible.

"Anyone backing Hillary in the primaries or McCain/Palin in the general election was targeted with the full-on Alinsky Death Star. It was actually kind of scary to go out in Chicago in my Democrats for McCain tee shirt because the laser-focused hatred emanating from the eyes of Obama supporters did make me feel afraid for my personal safety at times." - Kevin DuJan, pitching his Romney/Ryan t-shirt.

RELATED: DuJan has become the darling of World Net Daily and Free Republic over the last two weeks for his years-old claim that President Obama frequented Chicago-area bathhouses and gay bars where he singled out "older white men" for his attention. In addition to today's claim that angry blacks assaulted him for wearing a McCain t-shirt, DuJan has claimed that "leftists" have been poisoning his cocktails in local gay bars because he loves Sarah Palin and that nobody will date him because he's a Christian.
