"The LGBT Must Be Classified As A
Domestic Terrorists Hate Group"

"The CNN, MSNBC Secular Media is promoting terrorist attacks against Christians. Maybe the Floyd Corkins assassination attempt on Tony Perkins will wake up the Christian Church in the nation? When will CNN, MSNBC and other secular networks stop giving the LGBT leaders a platform to preach their hate speech and violence towards Christians. Their has been thousands of threatening messages and acts of violence against Christians. It is only a matter of time before another LGBT gay activist like Floyd Corkins, sets out to shoot up a Chick Fil A or Christian Church. Thanks to the Left wing agenda of the White House, Democrats, CNN, MSNBC and other secular networks. When we pray, we are telling God what we need. But we need to act and God will act on Our Behalf. Contact the FBI, tell them to investigate LGBT Domestic Terrorists. We must also pray and act to stop the Christian persecution and holocaust taking place around the world." - Frank Tomi of BibleStudySpace.com, via press release.

Barney Frank Vs Homocons, Part 3

Rep. Barney Frank has endorsed the Democratic opponent of Massachusetts homocon House candidate Richard Tisei.
Frank, who is backing fellow Democrat and incumbent Rep. John Tierney in the state’s closely watched 6th Congressional District race, said electing Tisei would ensure Republicans retain control of the U.S. House. That would effectively block any progress on gay rights legislation, Frank said Thursday in a conference call with reporters. Tisei is hoping to oust Tierney. "The fact that Richard Tisei is openly gay is a good thing." Frank said. "The problem is that it is of no use to us." Frank said if Tisei were elected, his first vote would be to keep Republican Rep. John Boehner as House Speaker. Boehner has opposed efforts to repeal the 1996 federal Defense of Marriage Act that denies tax, health and other benefits to married gay couples. The fact that Tisei supports efforts to repeal the law is beside the point, Frank said. "If he is helping them keep the majority that is irrelevant because the bill will not come up," Frank said.
The Victory Fund, which supports LGBT candidates, is unhappy with Frank's endorsement of the opponent of their choice.
"The Victory Fund was proud to endorse Richard Tisei, and we stand with him as he seeks to represent the people of the 6th District in Washington," said Victory Fund President Chuck Wolfe in a statement. "We need authentic and courageous voices like his and Barney Frank's challenging both parties to change, and advocating for the freedoms all LGBT Americans deserve." Wolfe acknowledged Frank's significance to the broader gay-rights movement, having become the first member of Congress to willingly come out, in 1981. However, Wolfe said change can only come by bringing LGBT voices to the table on both sides of the aisle. "Just as Congressman Frank was able to help persuade Democrats to turn away from an anti-LGBT record over the more than 25 years he served as an openly gay member of the House, we believe Richard Tisei's personal influence in the Republican caucus has the potential to change the hearts and minds of colleagues," Wolfe said. "That is how real change begins."
Tierney has issued a statement in reaction to Frank's backing: "I have continually supported equal rights of all Americans and although we have made significant strides toward equality, we still have a long way to go. I will keep fighting to end discrimination against LGBT Americans."

San Francisco May Reconsider Nudity Ban

As we've discussed here several times before, it is completely legal to be fully nude on the streets of San Francisco, provided one does not appear to be in a "sexually excited state." A handful of nudists from other neighborhoods like to congregate in the relatively sunny Castro, where they are hassled less often by residents. But nudity may soon be illegal, depending on whether or not cock rings are "erection enhancers" or mere genital jewelery. Seriously.

Matthew Bajko writes at Bay Area Reporter:
District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener disclosed to the Bay Area Reporter this week that he is open to introducing legislation at City Hall that would ban public nudity. [snip] The openly gay supervisor, who joked that he never imagined when he ran for public office he would be asked about cock rings, said he agrees that the penile accouterments are inappropriate in public. "People can have whatever view they want to have on public nudity in general. But to be walking around with a cock ring on or something similar is just not acceptable, responsible behavior," Wiener said. "The whole purpose of a cock ring is to draw attention to that area." Many nudists, in turn, contend that sporting cock rings is similar to wearing earrings or bracelets. They have reported that the police are informing men who wear the genital jewelry that they are in violation of city codes governing being undressed in public. [snip]

Technically, under current San Francisco rules, as long as a person is not visibly sexually aroused, they can be nude in public. But when men have on cock rings, whose primary purpose is to help wearers retain an erection, some city leaders maintain they are crossing the line into public indecency and are in violation of the law. "There is a difference between being naked and making a political statement and then wearing jewelry that brings attention to one's genital areas," said gay San Francisco police Sergeant Chuck Limbert, the LGBT liaison at Mission Station, whose jurisdiction covers the Castro neighborhood. "We have been getting a lot more pressure from the community to do some enforcement in regard to the public nudity and what is going on up there." Limbert insisted there is no specific police department policy regarding cock rings and denied that there were "cock ring patrols" on the hunt in the Castro.

For The Busy Fanboy

The launch date for the iPhone 5 is next Friday and a couple of fanboys are already in their camping chairs outside an Apple store in London. But if you live in San Francisco, you can pay somebody to wait in that line for you.
San Francisco-based TaskRabbit has rolled out a new program that lets people in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as New York, purchase four hours worth of wait time in line at an Apple retail store for $55. That's more than a quarter of the price of Apple's entry-level iPhone 5, and $55 more than it costs to pre-order the phone from Apple's Web site and carrier partners beginning tomorrow. The program is part of what the company calls an "experiment" that will make specific types of tasks available for a flat fee. Typically the company's business revolves around people creating tasks and naming their own prices, something people are still able to do.

WISCONSIN: GOProud Backs Anti-Gay Senate Candidate Tommy Thompson

Last week the campaign office of 2008 GOP presidential candidate Tommy Thompson emailed and tweeted out messages mocking Rep. Tammy Baldwin's "heartland values" for dancing at a 2010 gay pride event. After an avalanche of complaints, Thompson's campaign manager Brian Nemoir locked his Twitter account and claimed his email was personal, not official, even though it came from his official Thompson campaign email address.

None of that matters to GOProud, who plainly supports Thompson because he's running against Baldwin, who would be the first-ever openly gay member of the U.S. Senate.

RELATED: During a 2008 GOP presidential debate Thompson declared that it should be legal for businesses to fire employees for being gay. He backpedaled from that the next day, claiming that he'd misunderstood the question because he needed to use the restroom. Seriously. Thompson opposes same-sex marriage and supports DOMA.

FRC's Prayer Of The Day

As the FRC's hate fest continues in Washington DC, they've posted the below prayer request for God to stop LGBT rights in America.
The dedicated Christian staff at FRC does not hate homosexuals. Indeed, by publishing Biblical and scientific truth, our aim is redemptive. We pray for those caught in this destructive lifestyle for their liberty. We labor to advance public policy that strengthens faith, family and freedom, and physical, moral and spiritual safety for our children.

Please pray that God will give FRC and our friends courage ceaselessly to proclaim truth as it pertains to marriage and human sexuality. May God grant us favor in fashioning public policy that fosters marriage and human sexuality that reflects God's wisdom and righteousness! (Dt 17:18; Ps 5:11; Is 10:1; Mt 19:3 ff; Eph 5:22-33; Titus 1:8 ff; Heb 13:4; Jude 7)

MINNESOTA: Marriage Lawsuit Advances

Interesting development:
A lawsuit seeking to overturn Minnesota's current law against same-sex marriage is back before a Hennepin County judge who dismissed it months ago. In January, the Minnesota Court of Appeals overturned Judge Mary Steenson Dufresne's dismissal. On Friday, she's hearing motions in the case as it moves ahead, even as a statewide vote on same-sex marriage approaches in November. The lawsuit, filed by three couples, seeks to throw out the state's existing "defense of marriage" law. The amendment, if passed, would toughen that law by putting it in the constitution.
As we've noted here previously, some LGBT groups have lamented the lawsuit, saying it only serves to "galvanize the undecideds" into supporting the pending constitutional ban.

Headline Of The Day

It's not at all surprising that Pam Geller has ties to this. And there's this from Max Blumenthal:
Another character who has been publicly listed as a consultant on the film is a known anti-Muslim activist with ties to the extreme Christian right and the militia movement. He is Steve Klein, a Hemet, California based insurance salesman who claims to have led a “hunter-killer team” in Vietnam.” Klein is a right-wing extremist who emerged from the same axis of Islamophobia that produced Anders Behring Breivik and which takes inspiration from the writings of Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, and Daniel Pipes. It appears Klein (or someone who shares his name and views) is an enthusiastic commenter on Geller’s website, Atlas Shrugged, where he recently complained about Mitt Romney’s “support for a Muslim state in Israel’s Heartland.” In July 2011, Spencer’s website, Jihad Watch, promoted a rally Klein organized alongside the anti-Muslim Coptic extremist Joseph Nasrallah to demand the firing of LA County Sheriff Lee Baca, whom they painted as a dupe for Hamas.
Geller has also been linked to Norway's mass murderer, who participated in her blog and quoted her words in the deranged manifesto found after he killed 77 people, most of them teenagers.

RIOTS WIDEN: Protesters Storm American And German Embassies In Sudan

As rioting continues to spread across the Middle East and northern Africa, protesters today overran the U.S and German embassies in Sudan.
Sudanese demonstrators broke into the U.S. and German embassy compounds in Khartoum and raised Islamic flags on Friday in state-backed protests against a film that insults the Prophet Mohammad, witnesses said. Police armed with tear gas and batons had clashed with protesters for almost an hour but retreated from the front of the embassy after a police car struck a demonstrator and left him on the ground in a pool of blood. A Reuters witness saw another person lying motionless on the ground nearby but it could not be confirmed whether either man was dead. Sudanese authorities had no immediate comment. Witnesses said guards inside the U.S. embassy, a vast compound comprising several buildings and tiers of fences, fired warning shots after several protesters clambered over the outer security wall and hoisted a black Islamic flag above a balcony.
Germany's foreign minister reports that while their embassy was set ablaze, all of its staffers appear to be safe.

Press Release Of The Day

From the National Jewish Democratic Council:
"American Jews will feel a sense of profound disappointment that two of the most important Republicans in the country have chosen to address - and thus court and legitimize - some of America's most extreme and deeply disturbing social conservatives at today's Values Voter Summit. The Southern Poverty Law Center urged public officials to refrain from attending because of the organizers' infamous history of gay bashing, anti-Muslim and intolerant statements, including disgustingly and directly linking homosexuality to the Holocaust. But equally concerning is the history of hate-filled toxic rhetoric that flows from many of its participants year after year. This is above and beyond one of the summit's organizers' calls for Jews to be converted to Christianity.

"Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan (R-WI) should theoretically be working to expand the Romney campaign's appeal to mainstream voters, and rumor has it the Republican Party is attempting to attract Jewish voters as well, though it has a strange way of showing it. Instead, he is serving as the campaign's bridge to far-right extremists -- a crowd that he blends all too well with. Furthermore, the appearance by Cantor -- the only Jewish Republican in Congress -- is sending yet another message that gay bashing, intolerance and abusive Holocaust rhetoric are accepted by the House GOP caucus. The unfortunate alliance between the Values Voter Summit and today's GOP is just one more element sure to remind the vast majority of American Jews --who strongly support marriage equality -- why they firmly support the Democratic Party."

MOB WIVES: At Big Ang's Book Launch

Last night my loyal photographer Dr. Jeff and I attended the launch party for the new book by Mob Wives breakout star Big Ang, whose own show debuted this summer. Immediately upon our arrival promoter Chip Duckett hustled us to a downstairs lounge where Ang and I chatted about her Staten Island nightclub, the Drunken Monkey, which recently began hosting a night called TuesGays. "Oh my gaaawd, Joe, the place is fricken packed!"

Back upstairs we chatted with Mob Wives stars Ramona and Karen and Big Ang cast member Linda, but much to the dismay of the bear contingent in the room, the histrionic Renee and her (sometimes) best pal and hair-pulling champion Drita were not in attendance. Later I worried Boy Culture blogger Matt Rettenmund somewhat when I too-loudly began speculating about what seemed to be gun bulges under the suit jackets of some of the large men quietly observing the goings-on. Thank you, open bar.

GERMANY: Chancellor Angela Merkel Tells Pro Soccer Players To Come Out

German Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday declared that professional soccer players should not fear coming out. Merkel's statement comes as the nation buzzes about the identity of a player who was quoted anonymously this week as saying that he would come out, but he fears for his safety.

Gay Star News has Merkel's quote:
"I am of the opinion that anyone who sums up the strength and bravery – and we have a long tradition of this behind us in politics – should know that they live in a land where they have nothing to fear. ‘The fact there are still fears for some people for their own situation means we need to send out a clear message: you must not be afraid."
The unnamed player is reportedly a major star. He told Fluter Magazine:
"I would no longer be safe if my sexuality was to be made public. I don’t know whether I will be able to take the constant tension between the model heterosexual player and the possible discovery until the end of my career. Should someone explain to the outraged crowd before the game that 'the gays' are actually completely normal men and then simply play? Unimaginable. In the situation in a stadium or after the game, any tiny thing within the group would be made into a big deal."

Orthodox Rabbis Denounce New York City Rule About "Snip-N-Suck" Circumcision

After they finished approving Mayor Bloomberg's ban on big sodas, yesterday the NYC Board of Health approved a new law requiring parents to sign a consent form before Orthodox rabbis can perform the bizarre ritual known as "snip-n-suck" circumcisions. The decision came as Orthodox Jews protested outside. Gothamist reports:
"Metzitzah b’peh" is the practice of sucking the blood from a just snipped foreskin in traditional Jewish circumcisions. Most modern mohels use a sterile pipette to do so, but some Orthodox parents insist on the ancient tradition. The Board voted in favor of a mandatory written consent form being given to parents before a mohel performs direct oral suction of the infant's penis. Members acknowledged the delicateness of the "difficult legal situation"—despite there being a "very clear public necessity" to do something, they stressed the importance of respecting religious beliefs.
The consent form reads:
I understand that direct oral suction will be performed on my child and that the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene advises parents that direct oral suction should not be performed because it exposes an infant to the risk of transmission of herpes simplex virus infection, which may result in brain damage or death.
The CDC reported in June that 11 NYC infant boys contracted herpes from their Orthodox rabbis in the last ten years. Two of the boys died. The rabbi in the above photo said he and his colleagues will likely ignore the new consent form.

NEW YORK: Recently Arrested NY Sen. Shirley Huntley Loses Dem Primary

New York state Sen. Shirley Huntley yesterday lost her Democratic primary, leading NOM to crow that "another marriage traitor" has been unseated. The real story, of course, is that Huntley was arrested earlier this month on corruption charges.
Embattled State Sen. Shirley Huntley has lost her primary fight to hold on to the Democratic nomination for her State Senate seat. NY1 is declaring Councilman James Sanders the winner over Huntley in the Democratic primary for the District 10 State Senate nomination. Associated Press numbers as of 12:20 a.m. Friday show that with 92 percent of precincts reporting, Sanders has 57 percent of the vote while Huntley has 40 percent. Third challenger Gian Jones has 3 percent of the vote. Huntley was indicted last month after being accused of committing fraud in a conspiracy to steal taxpayer funds.
Huntley had long vigorously opposed same-sex marriage, once declaring, "If they gave me a million dollars, tax free, I just wouldn't vote for it." She abruptly changed her mind and did vote for the marriage bill once all the other Democrats (except Sen. Ruben Diaz) fell in line.

EU To Secessionists: New Countries Don't Automatically Earn Membership

With secessionist movements gaining strength in several countries, the head of European Commission has declared that any new nation thus created will have to re-apply for membership in the European Union.

The Scottish National Party, in particular, has been reassuring the public that they would retain their EU citizenship. EU citizens can relocate to and work in any member nation.
EU commission president José Manuel Barroso has dealt a serious blow to a key part of the SNP's plans for a "soft" form of Scottish independence. EU membership is vital to the SNP's plans in several ways. Automatic membership would emphasise the ease of the transition from being part of the UK to being an independent state, ensure continuity for Scotland's economy and the business world and simplify negotiations with the UK government over independence. While an application for EU membership by an independent Scotland ought to be relatively straightforward, it would mean that the new state would have to spend two or three years outside the EU.

Those negotiations might be complicated if Scotland were seen as a precedent for other "discontented" regions like Catalonia or Flanders, and perhaps by issues like the Schengen accord. In international law, Scottish membership of the EU would depend on the question of which state or states are successor to the present UK. There are three answers to that question: that the "rump UK" of England, Wales and Northern Ireland is the successor state, but a newly independent Scotland is not; that both states are; or that neither is.
Barroso spoke to the BBC yesterday.
"I am not going to speculate now about possible secessions, it is not my job. But I can tell you that to join the European Union, yes, we have a procedure. It is a procedure of international law," he said. "A state has to be a democracy first of all, and that state has to apply to become a member of the European Union and all the other member states have to give their consent." Pressed on whether all new countries were regarded as new states by the EU, Barroso said: "A new state, if it wants to join the European Union, has to apply to become a member like any state. In fact, I see no country leaving and I see many countries wanting to join." His remarks put Salmond under pressure to defend his government's position, which is intended to reassure Scottish voters in the runup to the independence referendum in 2014 that there are few risks posed by breaking away from the UK.
In addition to the secessionist movements mentioned above (Scotland, Catalonia, Flanders), Germany's wealthy state of Bavaria also has a contingent calling for separation.

NEW YORK: Marriage Supporter And NOM Arch Enemy Wins State Senate GOP Battle

New York state Sen. Mark Grisanti, one of the four Republicans who tipped marriage equality into the win column, has won his GOP primary despite ferocious opposition from the anti-gay hate group NOM, who earlier this year pledged $2 million to unseat every one of those four GOP state Senators.
Senator Mark J. Grisanti, a Buffalo Republican who had also supported same-sex marriage, comfortably fended off a challenge from Kevin T. Stocker, a Republican lawyer who accused Mr. Grisanti of breaking his word when he did so. But Mr. Grisanti’s troubles are not over. He represents a district that is heavily Democratic, and Democrats see him as vulnerable in November: he attracted unflattering attention this year when he took part in a bar brawl in an American Indian casino in Niagara Falls.

“For people that know me, I stand by my beliefs and my convictions,” Mr. Grisanti told his supporters, adding, “There are so many issues that we have done in this year. And unfortunately, you know, my opponent focused on a few. But the people spoke.” The fate of the Senate Republicans is being closely watched nationally, because New York was the first state in which same-sex marriage became legal with the support of a Republican-controlled legislative chamber.

Gay-rights advocates say they believe they will need support from Republican legislators in other states to legalize same-sex marriage, and they have been concerned that if the New York senators were defeated, Republicans elsewhere would be more reluctant to take the electoral risk of voting to allow gay men and lesbians to wed.
Earlier this week Grisanti was attacked by an anti-gay group with a flyer that was described as the "ugliest anti-gay mailer of the 2012 election."UPDATE: NOM concedes but vows revenge with the Democrat.RELATED: One of the four GOP state senators mentioned above did not run for reelection. The other two primary races remain too close to call at this writing.

Romney: Fly With Me On Hair Force One

Not to be outdone by Beyonce's pitch for Obama, Mitt Romney has launched another raffle of his own.
For a campaign donation of $15 or more, Mitt Romney says you can win a ride with him on "Hair Force One." Yes, the GOP presidential nominee is poking fun at his hair in his latest contest promotion. Romney starts the e-mail pitch by acknowledging the nickname his wife, Ann, has dubbed his campaign plane. "Personally, I don't quite know what to call it, but I do know it's crucial in getting this campaign's message to every corner of the country. And with just 54 days left until the election, we will be putting it to good use," Romney says. No word on whether the "Fly with Mitt" sweepstakes allows the two winners to also touch the candidate's perfectly coiffed 'do.

Libya Makes Arrests Over US Deaths

But U.S. officials have yet to interview the detainees, described as "militants" or to verify their involvement in the attack. Feds Identify Anti-Islam Filmmaker

Federal investigators have tracked down the man who produced Innocence Of Muslims. As it turns out, he's neither Jewish or Israeli (as he told others), and he's spent time in prison for bank fraud.
A federal law enforcement official said Thursday that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was the man behind ‘‘Innocence of Muslims,’’ a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that sparked protests earlier in the week in Egypt and Libya and now in Yemen. U.S. authorities are investigating whether the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Libya came during a terrorist attack. Nakoula, who talked guardedly about his role, pleaded no contest in 2010 to federal bank fraud charges in California and was ordered to pay more than $790,000 in restitution. He was also sentenced to 21 months in federal prison and ordered not to use computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Leigh Williams said Nakoula set up fraudulent bank accounts using stolen identities and Social Security numbers; then, checks from those accounts would be deposited into other bogus accounts from which Nakoula would withdraw money at ATM machines.
The Southern Poverty Law Center has information about Steve Klein, a spokesman for Nakoula who has appeared on network television several times in the last two days.
Klein is a former Marine and longtime religious-right activist who has helped train paramilitary militias at a California church. It described Klein as founder of Courageous Christians United, which conducts protests outside abortion clinics, Mormon temples and mosques. It quoted Klein as saying he believes that California is riddled with Muslim Brotherhood sleeper cells ‘‘who are awaiting the trigger date and will begin randomly killing as many of us as they can.’’ Klein told the AP he vowed to help make the movie but warned the filmmaker that ‘‘you’re going to be the next Theo van Gogh.’’ Van Gogh was a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim extremist in 2004 after making a film that was perceived as insulting to Islam. ‘‘We went into this knowing this was probably going to happen,’’ Klein said.

Quote Of The Day - Bill Donohue

"Just this week, I wrote a news release explaining why a special jury award was given to a movie at the Venice Film Festival: it shows a woman masturbating with a crucifix. I also issued another release on an upcoming series on FX that portrays a sadistic nun who beats mentally insane patients in an evil Catholic institution. This is what we do at the Catholic League: we are constantly drawing attention to the Catholic bashing that takes place in the arts, the entertainment industry, the media, and elsewhere. Yet no one in the Obama administration has ever expressed the slightest interest in condemning anti-Catholic fare.

"Hollywood specializes in trashing Catholic 'feelings,' yet we hear nothing about it from President Obama. That’s because he has too many friends there. Just last month, Harvey Weinstein, who has produced more anti-Catholic movies than anyone, held a $35,000-per-person dinner in his home for the president. In March, Bill Maher, who is the supreme Catholic basher, wrote a check to Obama’s superPAC for $1 million. Yesterday, when Neil Cavuto on Fox News asked me how to make sense of all this, I said, 'Hollywood respects Jews, fears Muslims and hates Catholics, as well as Evangelicals.' - Catholic League blowhard and pedophile defender Bill Donohue, again turning a national tragedy into a story about himself.

Malaysia Warning: How To Spot Gays

The Malaysian government has issued a guide for parents on the warning signs that their children might have the gay.
The Ministry of Education in Malaysia has endorsed guidelines to help parents tell if their children are gay or lesbian. Malaysiakini reports that the list of 'symptoms' for gay men includes stereotypes such as: ‘Have a muscular body and like to show their body by wearing V-neck and sleeveless clothes,' ‘Prefer tight and light-coloured clothes,’ and 'like to bring big handbags, similar to those used by women, when hanging out.' The list of ‘warning’ signs for lesbians are less superficial. Potential lesbians apparently ‘distance themselves from other women… besides their female companions’, ‘like to hang out, have meals and sleep in the company of women’ and ‘have no affection for men’.
Homosexuality is illegal in Malaysia. Two years ago the official state film agency ruled that gay characters can only be portrayed if they "repent or die" before the movie ends.

I will, of course, also miss having the few worst moments of my life put on screen each week, with all 900 recorded hours of my best, positive, happy, benevolent, successful, charitable, fun, and loving moments vanishing, hidden as if they didn't exist, and swiftly deleted from any sort of public view whatsoever." - A-List: New York reality star Reichen Lehmkuhl, speaking to Gay.net.

NYC's Big Gulp Ban Vote Is Today

The NYC Board of Health will vote today on Mayor Bloomberg's plan to ban the sale of large-serving soft drinks and other "sugared beverages."
The plan is expected to be approved by the Bloomberg-appointed health board and then could take effect next March. It’s unclear what the prospects are for last-minute changes before the vote. Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley has noted that the board has been reviewing the public comments. A soft-drink industry sponsored group called New Yorkers for Beverage Choices — which says it has gathered more than 250,000 signatures on petitions opposing the soda plan — is considering a lawsuit and exploring legislative options for challenging the plan if it passes, spokesman Eliot Hoff said. It’s not clear what legislative routes there may be: City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said Wednesday she’s not interested in trying to block the expected health board vote, though she has said she isn’t a fan of the soda idea.
A collective of soft drink manufacturers and resellers have spent millions to oppose the ban. AMC Theaters has decked out its NYC employees in mocking t-shirts that read: "I picked out my soda ALL by myself!"

UPDATE: The ban has been approved as was expected.
Seeking to combat rising obesity rates, the New York City Board of Health approved on Thursday a ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, street carts and movie theaters, enacting the first restriction of its kind in the country. The measure, unless blocked by a judge, will take effect in six months. The health board vote was the only regulatory approval needed to become binding in the city, but the American soft-drink industry has strongly opposed the plan and vowed this week to try to fight the measure by other means, possibly in the courts.

Email Of The Day - Beyonce

Just in from Beyonce Knowles:
Joe -- I usually don't email you -- but I have an amazing invitation I have to share. Jay and I will be meeting up with President Obama for an evening in NYC sometime soon. And we want you to be there! Until midnight tonight, if you pitch in $15 or whatever you can, you'll be automatically entered to be flown out to join us. Another Minnesota Marriage Poll

This one shows a better result than the one I posted yesterday.
The latest release from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) shows that 48 percent of likely voters support the proposed same-sex marriage ban, which was adopted by the Republican-controlled legislature last year, while 47 percent are opposed. In June, PPP found that 49 percent of Minnesota voters opposed the ban, compared with 43 percent who supported the amendment.

GOP Introduces Senate Bill To Ban Same-Sex Weddings On Military Bases

Two GOP Senators yesterday introduced a bill than would ban military bases from hosting same-sex weddings.
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe hasn't given up his resistance to the acceptance of gays and lesbians in the military or same-sex marriage. On Tuesday, Inhofe and fellow Republican Roger Wicker of Mississippi introduced a measure that would ban same-sex marriages on military bases and protect military chaplains from "pressure" to perform such ceremonies. The two senators described the Military Religious Freedom Act as an effort to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, known as DOMA, on the Defense Department in the wake of the December 2010 repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, which ended the official ban on gay men and lesbians serving openly in the military. "President Obama and his administration are dismissing their responsibility to uphold the law of the land by unilaterally deeming DOMA unworthy of enforcement," Inhofe said.
Military chaplains, of course, are already completely free to refuse to perform any ceremony for any reason.

Gay Porn Actor Tim Dax Talks To Us About His Role In Innocence Of Muslims

After several JMG readers noticed that one of the actors in the infamous Innocence Of Muslims appeared to be the oddly tattooed and occasional gay porn star Tim Dax, I reached out to Dax for an interview, which he declined after confirming his role in the film. He did provide us with this statement via email:
i can tell you i auditioned for a movie called Desert Storm that was about Ancient Warriors. My character was called Sampson on the paper with a few lines I got each day upon arriving on set. We never saw a full script or any lines after the day we shot them. Many questions were asked regarding absurdity of lines and situations. Sam the producer who I believed to be, but not certain as Egyptian. His reply would always to work with what we were given as he wrote the script. The clip that I saw part of today for the first time is questionable as to being my voice. The voice over work is dubious at best. a week and a half of work, 75 bucks a day & lunch. ; ) Can't tell you anymore than that other than I'm am very much NOT anti muslim. one world one love. Tim.
Dax, who describes himself as "straight, but with a twist," appeared in Titan Media's 2008 release Folsom Undercover. He's also been photographed for Michael Alago's popular Rough Gods. Google has removed Innocence Of Muslims from YouTube but below is a screenshot of the clip. The above photo is from Dax's IMDB page.

Editorial Of The Day

From the New York Times:
President Obama’s statement of outrage and his vow to bring the killers to justice received bipartisan support, including from politicians otherwise committed to partisan warfare, like the House speaker, John Boehner, and the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, who rarely misses a chance to attack Mr. Obama.

But not from Mitt Romney, who wants Americans to believe he can be president but showed an extraordinary lack of presidential character by using the murders of the Americans in Libya as an excuse not just to attack Mr. Obama, but to do so in a way that suggested either a dangerous ignorance of the facts or an equally dangerous willingness to twist them to his narrow partisan aims.

Mr. Romney could easily have held his fire during this crisis, if he could not summon the decency to support the United States government. Instead, he misrepresented the administration as “sympathizing” with the attackers. There was no truth in what he said. In fact, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton made the first official comment on the killings, a strong condemnation, before Mr. Romney released his statement. Even after having a night to reconsider his response, Mr. Romney merely doubled down on his false charges, as he is prone to do.
